Girl Scout Leadership

Girl Scout Experience provides workshops to afterschool, summer and school-based programs throughout St. Lucie County. Leadership Experience is a five-session program where girls aged 10 to 14 participate in life-skill building activities, gain new experiences and take healthy risks. GEMS is a four-session hands-on math and science program that promotes partnerships between girls and adults to encourage interest and excitement about learning. Power Up Bullying Prevention is a six-session program where girls aged 5 to 14 learn what bullying really is, and learn that bullying is never okay.

Using an established curriculum from the YMCA of the USA, the program provides tutoring and reading time, team sports, fitness, arts and crafts, and special event activities and is offered before and after school, on early release days, teacher work days and most holidays. Transportation is provided to and from the Bayshore Center.

TRUST: Teaching Resilience and Understanding Symptoms of Trauma

This program provides training and technical support to afterschool program staff to help them recognize and respond to trauma symptoms in children. Support will be provided to leadership to understand how their policies impact the implementation of their programming from a trauma perspective, and support will be provided to direct staff to understand the impact of trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences on youth behavior, and how responding appropriately can mitigate those symptoms.
